PHYSINT Casts Bill Skarsgård in the Lead Role
Kojima Productions has finally revealed who will lead Physint, with Bill Skarsgård stepping into the starring role of Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage game. The announcement came during Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast, just a week after the project underwent a major behind-the-scenes change.
Originally announced in partnership with PlayStation, Physint now has Xbox as its new publishing partner, expanding Kojima Productions’ existing relationship with the company beyond OD – KNOCK. Skarsgård will portray PHYSINT’s currently unnamed protagonist, and Kojima Productions will also release a new poster featuring him alongside previously announced cast member Charlee Fraser.
Best known internationally for playing Pennywise in IT and IT: Chapter Two, Skarsgård’s recent credits also include Nosferatu, John Wick: Chapter 4, The Crow and IT: Welcome to Derry.
Kojima and Skarsgård Have Already Started Working Together
Kojima revealed that the collaboration is already well underway, with Skarsgård and Fraser undergoing costume fittings, scans and camera tests earlier this year.
“I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for Physint will be Bill Skarsgård,” Kojima said, adding that early sessions with both actors had given him “tremendous confidence” in the project’s direction.
Skarsgård joins an ensemble that already includes Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe, all of whom Kojima Productions revealed during its 10th anniversary event in September 2025. Their characters remain under wraps, and Kojima has said more casting announcements are still to come.
Remains One of Kojima’s Biggest Mysteries
Beyond its cast, much of Physint remains unknown. Kojima has repeatedly described the project as an action-espionage title and the culmination of his 40-year career in game development, with the ambition of pushing the genre forward using cutting-edge technology.
There is still no release window, confirmed gameplay footage or detailed explanation of what players will actually be doing. The underlying technology and target Xbox platforms also have yet to be detailed publicly.
Xbox and Kojima Productions have additionally said their expanded partnership will extend beyond video games into film and television, although neither company has confirmed that Physint itself is receiving separate film or television adaptations.
For now, at least one of the project’s biggest mysteries has been solved. When Physint eventually emerges properly from the shadows, Bill Skarsgård will be the face leading Kojima back into action espionage.
