Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar Brings Ancient Eastern Myth to Steam
Justdan International has announced Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar, an action RPG roguelike coming to PC in 2026.
Set within the mythic world of Shan Hai Jing, also known as the Classic of Mountains and Seas, Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar draws from ancient Eastern mythology, divine conflict, and fantastical creatures. Its world is rendered through an ink wash visual style, giving the game a distinct look as players move through storm-torn peaks, celestial islands, and landscapes shaped by gods and demons.
The Abyssal Dragon Returns Through a Forbidden Curse
The story follows the Abyssal Dragon, once a legendary general under Emperor Yan. After being stripped of his name, exiled, and killed in battle, only a fragment of his soul remained for centuries. His return comes at the moment of Yi’s death. Yi, the godson of the flood hero Yu the Great, becomes the vessel for the Abyssal Dragon after the fallen general seizes control of his body through a forbidden curse.
That setup gives Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar a darker emotional centre. The Abyssal Dragon is not returning as a straightforward hero, but as a soul driven by centuries of regret, betrayal, and unresolved obsession.
Dual Weapon Combat Shapes Every Run
Combat in Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar is built around a dual weapon system. Players can equip two weapon types before entering a run and switch between them freely during battle.
There are five weapon types in total, with three melee and two ranged options. Players can mix melee and ranged weapons for versatility, or commit fully to one side for more extreme builds. That system feeds directly into the roguelike structure. Each run introduces new ability combinations, enemies drawn from ancient legend, and choices that can change how a build develops over time.
Shan Hai Jing Gives Dinghai Its Mythic Foundation
Shan Hai Jing is one of the oldest surviving works of Chinese literature, filled with gods, monsters, strange landscapes, and myths tied to the formation of civilisation.
One of its most famous stories is linked to Yu the Great, who battled catastrophic floods to protect civilisation. Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar uses that mythic backdrop to build a world already broken by floods, divine war, and forgotten power.

The game will feature procedurally varied runs, persistent progression, and a layered narrative told in fragments across repeated attempts. For players drawn to myth-heavy roguelikes, Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar looks like one to watch when it arrives on Steam in 2026.
