GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT Launches March 5, 2027
Bandai Namco Entertainment has finally put a date on GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT, confirming that its new high-speed Gundam action game will launch on March 5, 2027. The announcement arrived during the latest State of Play, alongside a substantial new trailer that revealed more of the game’s story, characters, and Mobile Suit customisation.
Set within the entirely new After Apocalypse timeline, GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT follows humanity’s fight against the mysterious Apocalypse while expanding the setting alongside the upcoming RG XARX ZERO anime project.
The game is being developed by Bandai Namco Studios, with players taking control of RE-X and the Gundam Helix across battles spanning both planets and the wider solar system.
RE-X Is the Pilot of the Gundam Helix
RE-X finds himself at the centre of humanity’s fight against the Apocalypse, serving as the pilot of the powerful Gundam Helix. Joining him is Vii, a Haro unit built specifically for the Mobile Suit and designed to serve as an intelligent support companion throughout the journey.
The latest trailer also introduces several characters RE-X will encounter. Sofia is a mysterious young woman keeping a close eye on his movements, while April commands the Stellarvane, an independent special-duty vessel carrying out operations against the Apocalypse.
Big Paul offers something considerably less official. He leads a group of sand pirates who hunt Apocalypse creatures while raiding wealthy transports and distributing supplies among settlers. Elaine rounds out the newly revealed group as a Knight Commander and accomplished Mobile Suit pilot who leads from the front lines.
The Gundam Helix Can Be Extensively Rebuilt
Perhaps the more exciting reveal of GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT concerns just how much control players will have over the Gundam Helix itself. Weapons, frames, thrusters and Apocalypse Units, or AP-U, can all be changed to create a Mobile Suit suited to the player’s preferred approach.
Each weapon carries its own actions and skills, meaning equipment choices directly change how the Gundam Helix behaves rather than simply increasing statistics. Bandai Namco describes combat as high-mobility action that moves seamlessly between the ground and air, with players dashing across large battlefields while combining different weapons and abilities.
Visual customisation is similarly extensive, with players able to alter colours and loadouts to give their Mobile Suit a more personal identity.
Something Else Is Waiting for RE-Xg
The new trailer also teases a mysterious black Mobile Suit with glowing red eyes, although Bandai Namco is keeping its identity and role in the wider story under wraps for now. Pre-orders are already open, with Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s Editions available.
The Collector’s Edition is particularly aimed at Gundam fans, bundling an exclusive HG 1/144 ARK-10 Gundam Helix Earth Blue model kit, steel case and five Gundam Card Game promotional cards alongside the digital extras included with the Deluxe Edition.
With a completely new timeline, extensive Mobile Suit building and a much clearer look at the Gundam Helix in action, we finally have a better idea of what Bandai Namco’s next Gundam experiment actually wants to be.
