Honkai: Nexus Anima Final Closed Beta Begins November 25

HoYoverse‘s growing catalogue is moving in increasingly different directions, and its next Honkai project might be one of its biggest departures yet. The company has confirmed that Honkai: Nexus Anima will launch globally in spring 2027 for PC, iOS and Android, with its Final Closed Beta beginning November 25.

The open-world creature-catching adventure RPG differs from Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai: Star Rail, combining exploration and Anima collection with strategic auto-battler combat. It is another example of HoYoverse stretching beyond its established formulas, alongside the darker Unreal Engine fantasy of Nodusfall and paranormal open-world project Varsapura.

Players can apply for the Final Closed Beta through the official website, although places are limited and progress will be wiped once the test ends.

Limited 5-Stars Get a More Generous Guarantee

One of the more substantial changes heading into the Honkai: Nexus Anima test concerns the Event Bond system. For both Eidos and Anima Event Bonds, the first 5-star obtained is guaranteed to be the currently featured limited one. Acquiring the current limited Eidos will also allow players to claim its corresponding Anima Companion for free.

That removes the uncertainty surrounding the first 5-star acquisition on those limited banners, although HoYoverse has not detailed how subsequent 5-star pulls or duplicates will be handled in the final release.

The change should be particularly notable given how closely monetisation systems are watched across HoYoverse’s games, even as the company continues expanding into new projects such as the Unreal Engine-powered Nodusfall and other experimental releases.

Final Closed Beta Expands Iia and Adds Nexus Arena

The Final Closed Beta will also substantially expand the playable world. Iia gains new locations including a traditional bank, high-rise office building and lighthouse island. Players can retreat to their own RV between adventures and build habitats for collected Anima, while Chromatic variants and younger Anima will also appear throughout the world.

Combat is expanding through Nexus Arena, a competitive mode where players assemble their preferred Anima lineup, match against other players and climb through ranked competition. Open-world encounters and challenge stages are also becoming more demanding.

HoYoverse shows several of these additions in its Final Closed Beta gameplay showcase, including exploration, Anima interactions and the revised battle systems.

With the final test now dated and the full release narrowed to spring 2027, Honkai: Nexus Anima is moving considerably closer to launch. Just as importantly, HoYoverse appears willing to adjust some of the systems players will interact with most, rather than simply carrying its established gacha structure into another game.
