Life Below Sets May 26, 2026 PC Release Date on Steam
Publisher Kasedo Games and developer Megapop have confirmed that Life Below, an underwater city builder focused on restoring coral reef ecosystems, will launch on May 26 as a PC exclusive on Steam. A new trailer accompanies the date reveal, spotlighting the systemic hazards players will need to manage as they rebuild life beneath the surface.
A City Builder Built Around Ecosystems, Not Skylines
Life Below positions itself as a city builder that measures growth in terms of biodiversity and stability rather than pure expansion. Players grow and shape a reef, attract wildlife to increase biodiversity, and evolve an ecosystem that can survive shifting conditions over time. The project is being developed in collaboration with marine biologists, with writing from Rhianna Pratchett.
Instead of the usual urban infrastructure pressures, the game’s challenge is ecological: players are asked to understand fragility, anticipate change, and build resilience into a living system.
Hazards Range from Bleaching to Oil Spills
The new Life Below trailer highlights a range of threats aimed at disrupting a healthy reef cycle. Megapop says players will face:
- Invasive species
- Coral bleaching
- Jellyfish swarms
- Warming waters
- Pollution waves
- Oil spills
The intent is to keep the reef in a constant state of adaptation, forcing players to respond to both natural and external pressures rather than settling into a single optimal build.
Steam Festival Presence and Developer Stream on April 25

Life Below will appear during Steam’s Earth Appreciation festival, offering an additional showcase window ahead of launch. Megapop has also confirmed a live developer stream on April 25, promising a closer look at gameplay systems and new mechanics.
Life Below launches May 26 exclusively on PC via Steam.
