Marvel’s Wolverine Story Trailer Reveals More of Logan’s Journey
Insomniac Games has released a new story trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, giving fans another look at Logan’s upcoming PlayStation 5 adventure before launch.
The trailer debuted during the studio’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, where Insomniac shared fresh details on the game’s story, characters, music, and crossover content. While earlier footage focused more heavily on gameplay and combat, this new trailer puts Logan’s emotional state at the centre.
It opens with a tense confrontation between Logan and Jean Grey, immediately suggesting that their history will play a major role in the story. This is not just Wolverine being pointed at another enemy faction. Insomniac appears to be building a darker character piece around memory, guilt, identity, and mutant survival.
Jean Grey Takes a Bigger Role
Jean Grey is clearly more than a cameo in Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac previously revealed that Jean is an emerging leader among captured mutants, with Logan pulled back into the fight after the Reavers target vulnerable mutants on behalf of Bolivar Trask. The new trailer strengthens that setup by placing Jean directly beside Logan, both emotionally and in action.
That gives the game a wider mutant story rather than a solo revenge plot. Logan may be the lead, but Jean’s presence suggests the campaign will explore what he is willing to become when the people around him are threatened.
The Hand and Deathstrike Join the Threat
The new trailer also confirms The Hand as one of the game’s enemy factions, alongside the recently revealed Deathstrike as one of its major villains. Insomniac says Logan and The Hand share a history that players will uncover across the story. That immediately gives the game another strong comic book connection, especially with Tokyo already listed as one of the major locations in Logan’s globe-spanning journey.
Deathstrike’s arrival also fits the tone Insomniac has been building. She is one of Wolverine’s most personal enemies, and her inclusion suggests the game is not holding back from the harsher edges of Logan’s past.
David Fleming Is Scoring Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac also confirmed that award-winning composer David Fleming is handling the music for Marvel’s Wolverine. The studio says the score will shift dynamically alongside Logan’s journey, which should matter in a game moving between intense action, quieter character moments, and locations such as Madripoor, Canada, and Tokyo.
A digital prequel comic is also available through Marvel Unlimited, written by Insomniac narrative director Walt Williams, with art by Luke Ross and a cover by Iban Coello. The comic sets up Logan’s strained relationship with Team X before the main game.
Marvel Tōkon Crossover Adds Two Suits
There is also a crossover with Arc System Works’ Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Marvel’s Wolverine will include a suit inspired by Wolverine’s Marvel Tōkon design, unlocked through in-game progression from day one. In return, the Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Reborn suit will appear in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls as a free costume for all players starting September 1.
It is a smart crossover, especially with both games arriving at a time when Marvel Games is clearly trying to keep its console output connected without forcing a shared universe.
Marvel’s Wolverine Launches This September

With Jean Grey, The Hand, Deathstrike, Team X, and Bolivar Trask now all shaping the story, Insomniac’s next Marvel game is starting to look much more personal than a simple superhero action release.
The studio has already proved it understands Marvel heroes through Marvel’s Spider-Man. Now, Marvel’s Wolverine has to prove it can handle a character whose story is heavier, messier, and much harder to soften.
