EA Sports FC 27 Launch Date Confirmed Alongside First Gameplay Reveal
Electronic Arts has confirmed that EA Sports FC 27 will launch worldwide on September 25, with Early Access beginning on September 18 for owners of the Ultimate Edition and Ultimate Plus Edition.
The reveal also confirms Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham as the joint cover athletes for the limited-time Ultimate Plus Edition. Mbappé had already been revealed as the cover star for the Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition earlier this week, while Bellingham now returns for his third EA Sports FC cover appearance.
The Ultimate Plus Edition will only be available through August 31 and is clearly being aimed at dedicated Football Ultimate Team players. Its headline bonuses include up to 10,000 FC Points delivered across five monthly drops, Premium Passes for Seasons 1 to 5, a Hall of FUT Player Pick, and up to 7 days of Early Access.
The Grounds Adds a New Social Football Space
The biggest new mode in EA Sports FC 27 is The Grounds, a social football playground designed to expand the Clubs experience. EA describes the mode as a new space for casual kickabouts, 1v1s, player progression, and more competitive play across 3 districts inspired by football heritage.
Players will be able to personalise their footballer, improve on and off the pitch, and receive guidance from mentors including Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, Paulo Dybala, and Alex Hunter. The Grounds is only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. That means players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the original Nintendo Switch will not get access to the mode.
Career and Football Ultimate Team Get Major Additions
Career Mode is also getting one of its most important changes through a rebuilt Transfer Market. Enhanced by TransferRoom, the new system will use club buying power, player potential, ratings, and form to create more dynamic player values. Manager Career players can also expect streamlined negotiations, more active rival clubs, bidding wars, and new deal structures such as performance and buy-back clauses.
Football Ultimate Team is adding the FUT Gallery, a new collection-focused feature where players can curate completed Sets of past and present Player Items across clubs, leagues, nations, and campaigns. Completing Sets will increase Gallery Level, earn rewards, and give players another way to build out their club identity across the season.
EA has also introduced the Hall of FUT, with the Ultimate Plus Edition offering a 1 of 5 Player Pick from Adebayo Akinfenwa, Giovani dos Santos, Loïc Rémy, Marouane Fellaini, and Eljero Elia.
Gameplay Changes Focus on Control and Fluidity
Across modes, EA Sports FC 27 is being pitched around community-driven gameplay improvements. EA says players can expect stronger attacking awareness, dynamic corners, rebalanced AI defending, and more player-focused control. The company is also highlighting improved spatial awareness, off-balance dribbling, redesigned corner kicks, and Authentic Gameplay 2.0.
The key promise is that matches should feel more fluid while giving players greater manual responsibility, especially when defending. Whether that holds up across online play will likely become one of the biggest talking points once Early Access begins.

EA Play members will also be able to access a 10-hour early trial from September 18, while EA Play Pro members will receive day-one access to the EA Play Pro Edition. EA says EA Sports FC 27 will feature more than 21,000 players from over 800 clubs and national teams, more than 140 stadiums, 35+ leagues, and over 300 global football partners.
Cover stars build the hype, but this year’s biggest question is whether The Grounds, FUT Gallery, and the rebuilt Career Transfer Market can make EA Sports FC 27 feel meaningfully different once players are back on the pitch.
