Fakin’ It XL Returns as a Standalone Jackbox Game
Jackbox Games is bringing one of its most popular social deduction games back as a standalone title. Fakin’ It XL launches on November 12 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, priced at US$8.99. Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions will follow later this year.
The original Fakin’ It debuted inside The Jackbox Party Pack 3 in 2016 and revolves around finding the one player who has no idea what everyone else has been asked. Jackbox says the game has hosted around 50 million sessions over the past three years alone, which helps explain why it is now getting a larger standalone version.
Fakin’ It XL Adds Two New Ways to Bluff
The basic idea remains wonderfully uncomfortable. Most players receive the same prompt, perhaps asking them to raise a hand if they have ever pretended to enjoy a terrible gift. The Faker receives nothing useful and has to respond convincingly enough to avoid being exposed.
Fakin’ It XL adds two new question types to that formula. Emojional Damage requires everyone to respond using an emoji. The Faker only sees a broader category, forcing them to choose something plausible before attempting to explain why their answer definitely makes sense.
Thumb Luck instead asks players to quickly give a thumbs up or down to three different topics. Again, the Faker doesn’t know what everyone is actually judging and has to defend potentially disastrous opinions after the fact.
Remote Play Should Be Less Awkward This Time
One of the most useful improvements targets players joining through video calls. New remote play options let avatars perform actions on a player’s behalf, reducing reliance on everyone being physically visible in the same room.
That should make gesture-based rounds considerably easier to manage when friends are spread across different locations. Player capacity has also increased to eight, accompanied by additional avatar choices.

Fakin’ It XL Will Also Join Two Jackbox Bundles
Players looking for more than one game will have two bundles to consider. The Jackbox Backpack Bundle on Steam combines Fakin’ It XL, Trivia Murder Party 3 and The Jackbox Party Pack 12 for US$46.95.
Meanwhile, the Jackbox Holiday Bundle packages Fakin’ It XL with The Jackbox Party Pack 12 for US$34.69 on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms. The Jackbox Party Pack 12 itself launches on October 15, with its five new games already fully revealed.
Fakin’ It XL follows on November 12 for PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 arriving later in 2026. Nearly 10 years later, apparently there are still plenty of friendships left for Fakin’ It to test.
