PlayStation Prism Collection Brings Transparent Hardware Back to PS5
Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking backwards for its next PlayStation 5 accessory collection, reviving the transparent hardware trend of the late ’90s with three new DualSense controllers and matching console covers.
The newly revealed PlayStation Prism Collection comes in Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray, with each design using translucent materials to reveal some of the hardware sitting beneath the shell.
Pre-orders begin on November 10 through PlayStation Direct where available and participating retailers, before the collection begins launching on February 4, 2027. Exact dates and availability may differ between regions.
The range follows an increasingly colourful year for PlayStation hardware, including the neon-inspired Hyperpop Collection and several game-specific DualSense designs.
Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray Go Transparent
All three Prism designs use the same underlying approach, but Sony has given each colour its own character. Flare Orange uses a vibrant orange finish that develops a slightly rosy hue where transparent layers overlap, while Emerald Green goes darker with a deeper green tint. Graphite Gray is the most restrained of the three, using a cool-toned finish across the translucent shell.
The transparent treatment extends across the back of the DualSense, providing a clearer view of the technology inside while keeping the overall controller largely monochromatic. A metallic section through the middle breaks up the glossy transparent exterior.
Sony’s Colour, Material and Finish design team said the concept was deliberately inspired by transparent electronics from the late ’90s, bringing that familiar look into the PS5 generation rather than simply reproducing an older controller design.
It is a noticeable departure from recent special editions such as the LISA Limited Edition DualSense and the much louder Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow hardware, both of which build their identities around specific personalities or games.
Matching PS5 Console Covers Complete the Prism Collection
Each DualSense design is accompanied by a matching transparent PS5 console cover, allowing players to carry the same colour treatment across their setup.

The console covers will have more limited distribution than the controllers. They will be sold directly through PlayStation in regions where its hardware store operates, with limited quantities expected through selected retailers elsewhere.
For anyone looking to expand their DualSense collection sooner, PlayStation’s ongoing 11.11 Power Deals currently discounts several existing controller colourways through November 12. The Prism Collection will begin rolling out on February 4, 2027, with pre-orders opening November 10.
