RIFTSTORM Early Access Begins After Five Years of Development

Confiction Labs and Agate are bringing RIFTSTORM to Steam Early Access on August 11, giving the co-op PvE looter-shooter its biggest public step yet after nearly five years of development. The isometric action game has undergone several major playtests, including a strong showing at Steam Next Fest, where it ranked among the event’s Top 50 Most Played titles.

After years of iteration, the developers are now preparing to open the game to a wider audience while continuing to refine balance, progression, and long-term content. Perhaps the most important shift is that RIFTSTORM is now being presented entirely as a traditional game.

Confiction Labs has clarified that the project is not a Web3 product and includes no NFTs, tokens, wallet connections, on-chain transactions, or token-based progression.

Play as Weavers Against Mythic Threats

In RIFTSTORM, players become Weavers, elite operatives working under the Mythic Protocol organisation. Their job is to investigate riftfall events, contain supernatural breaches, and fight Mythic threats that have pushed beyond normal reality. The game blends fast combat, loot-driven progression, and what the team describes as an “extraction-lite” structure built around risk, rewards, and getting out before a mission collapses.

The goal is to keep the tension of extraction-style games without making loss feel overly punishing. Instead of leaning into harsh PvP pressure, RIFTSTORM focuses on empowerment, co-op teamwork, and repeatable PvE missions.

Early Access Includes Five Playable Weavers

At the start of Early Access, RIFTSTORM will include five playable Weavers, each designed around different combat roles and abilities. The launch build is also planned to feature online three-player co-op, an onboarding campaign, curated early Threat missions, around 30 weapons, several dozen Lythogram power-ups, and early versions of progression and Periapt Augment systems.

That gives the Early Access release a fairly complete starting structure. Players will be able to experiment with different operators, weapon combinations, and power-ups while the developers gather feedback on balance and unexpected strategies.

Solo Play Is Available, But Co-Op Is the Focus

Although RIFTSTORM is clearly built around three-player co-op, solo play will also be supported. That should make the game easier for players to approach who want to learn its systems at their own pace before jumping into full-squad missions. Still, the wider design seems built around ability synergy, coordinated attacks, and chaotic screen-filling combat with friends.

As a Southeast Asia- and Indonesia-developed action game targeting the global PC market, RIFTSTORM is an ambitious project. Its Early Access launch will now show whether years of development and community playtesting can translate into a lasting co-op shooter with its own identity.
