John Wick Game 2028 Window Hinted at by Saber Executive

Saber Interactive’s upcoming John Wick game may be targeting 2028, based on a recent comment from the company’s new Chief Business Officer, Steve Allison. The project was officially announced earlier this year as an untitled AAA John Wick game developed in collaboration with Lionsgate, franchise director Chad Stahelski, and Keanu Reeves. At the time, Saber confirmed that the game would feature an original story set within the John Wick timeline, but did not announce a release date.

Now, Allison’s comments have given fans a possible window to watch. In a Reddit discussion, he referred to a “lineup forming in 2028” that includes Space Marine 3, Wick, “hopefully” Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, and several unannounced titles.

Saber Has Not Officially Announced a Release Date

The important caveat is that this is not a formal release date announcement. Allison’s wording suggests 2028 is a planning target for Saber’s wider slate, not a locked launch date for the John Wick game. Development timelines can change, especially for major licensed projects, so fans should treat the comment as an early hint rather than confirmation.

Still, it is the clearest timing clue the game has received since its reveal. Saber has been quiet about the project’s title, platforms beyond PlayStation 5, story details, and gameplay structure, making any mention of its internal roadmap immediately notable.

Saber Wants the Game to Feel Like John Wick

When the game was announced, Saber described it as a new playable chapter of John Wick’s life. The studio said the project is being built to capture key elements of the films, including cinematic environments, stylised camera work, close-quarters action, driving sequences, and the franchise’s distinctive “gun-fu” identity.

That last point is likely the biggest challenge. Previous John Wick games have not fully captured the speed, precision, and physicality that made the films stand out. For Saber’s adaptation to work, it needs to feel less like a generic licensed shooter and more like a game built specifically around Wick’s movement, timing, and improvisational combat style.

KOTOR Remake Also Gets a Small Sign of Life

Allison’s comment will also attract attention from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake fans. The remake has spent years surrounded by uncertainty, with development shifting to Saber after earlier trouble at Aspyr.

Allison’s use of “hopefully” makes it clear that KOTOR Remake is not being presented as a guaranteed 2028 release, but the fact that he mentioned it alongside Saber’s future slate is still encouraging. At minimum, it suggests the project remains part of Saber’s planning conversation rather than being quietly abandoned.

Saber’s 2028 Slate Could Be Massive

Saber’s upcoming lineup already looks unusually packed. The company’s confirmed and reported slate includes the John Wick game, Space Marine 3, Jurassic Park, Turok, Hellraiser, unannounced projects, and potentially KOTOR Remake. Allison recently joined Saber after eight years leading the Epic Games Store, and his new role is focused on helping shape the company’s publishing and business strategy.

For now, the John Wick game remains untitled and officially undated. However, if Allison’s 2028 comment reflects Saber’s internal expectations, the Baba Yaga’s next playable chapter may still be a few years away.
