Kick Steam Launch Brings Its Cosy Football Adventure to July

Solo developer nospacelost and publisher Shoreline Games have confirmed that Kick will launch on Steam on July 30.

The announcement was made during IGN Live, giving the cosy side-scroller a firm release date after its earlier reveal. Previously, Kick introduced itself as a chill PC adventure about getting to school with a soccer ball at your feet; now, players know when they can start the full run.

Before launch, a playable demo will be available during Steam Next Fest, which runs from June 15 to June 22. The demo includes the tutorial and the first level, giving players an early chance to learn the game’s movement, trick timing, and football control.

The Kid Runs Through Japan Inspired Streets

Kick follows The Kid, who makes their way through scenic Japan-inspired locations while keeping a trusty football in tow. The goal is simple enough: get to school before the bell rings.

That journey takes players through busy streets, beaches, shaded underpasses, parks, and shortcuts, with each area built around hazards to avoid and football challenges to master. Rather than being a traditional sports game, Kick uses football as a movement tool and a nostalgic childhood companion.

Tricks, Timers, and a More Relaxed Option

Across 23 levels, players will kick, jump, and run through different environments, using ball control to clear obstacles, dodge pedestrians, collect coins, and complete challenges.

Some levels include timers for players who want a sharper test of skill, especially during sequences built around catching trains or shaving seconds off a route. For those who prefer a more laid-back experience, timers can also be disabled.

The Steam Next Fest demo should give players a useful sample of Kick’s structure before launch. The tutorial introduces the basics, while the first level lets players test movement through a neighbourhood filled with pedestrians and trick opportunities.

Coins collected across the game can also be used to unlock cosmetic items, including ball skins and flags that can be displayed in-game. Combined with timed challenges and optional relaxed play, the game appears to be a compact, stylish side-scroller with enough structure to reward replaying levels.

Kick launches on Steam on July 30, with its first playable demo available during Steam Next Fest from June 15 to June 22.
