PlayStation State Of Play June 2026 Recap
It’s time for more gaming goodness as we head into the traditional summer window. While Summer Game Fest is set to give everyone a spotlight, the folks at Sony PlayStation will showcase many of the titles that have gamers in the ecosystem excited, along with fresh surprises.
The latest State of Play showcase opened with a closer look at Marvel’s Wolverine and closed with the reveal of a brand new God of War game, giving PlayStation fans plenty to pick apart heading into the rest of the year and beyond.
God of War Laufey
The biggest reveal of the State of Play showcase was God of War Laufey, a new PS5 chapter in Santa Monica Studio’s series. Rather than focusing on Kratos or Atreus, the game follows Laufey, also known as Faye, as she fights through the afterlife of the gods to save the ones she loves.
No release date was announced, but the reveal immediately stands out as one of PlayStation’s most significant first-party announcements from the show.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac Games showed a new look at Marvel’s Wolverine, with the State of Play trailer highlighting Logan’s aggressive combat style, brutal takedowns, and several story characters.
The showcase also revealed Team X connections, including Jean Grey, who teams up with Logan against the mutant-hunting Reavers. Marvel’s Wolverine launches on September 15.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
Bandai Namco’s next aerial combat entry is heading to PS5 on October 2. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve promises a full campaign, new tactical manoeuvres, large-scale aerial threats, ground targets, and a roster of 30 aircraft made up of real-world fighters and fictional models.
The reveal positions the game as another cinematic combat flight experience, with colossal transport aircraft and land-based ships adding a larger sense of scale to the dogfighting formula.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches on PS5 on September 25, with a demo available now. The demo features around 30 minutes from the early story and introduces core techniques such as Parry, Deflect, Issen, Oni Armament, and soul absorption.
Phantom Blade Zero
Phantom Blade Zero made another appearance during the showcase, but its biggest news is still to come.
The fast-paced action RPG will headline a dedicated State of Play later this summer, where S-Game will offer a fuller look at its mechanics, features, and story ahead of its PS5 launch later this year.
Control Resonant
Remedy’s Control Resonant launches globally on PS5 on September 24. The new story trailer showed a version of Manhattan warped by paranatural forces, with impossible architecture, shifting realities, and monstrous entities stalking its streets.
This time, Dylan takes centre stage as he pushes deeper into the city, using evolving abilities and a shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant. Jesse Faden is also confirmed to return, keeping the sequel closely tied to the wider Control mythology.
Rayman Legends Retold
Rayman Legends Retold launches on PS5 on October 1. The game reimagines the 2013 platforming favourite in 3D, with fully voiced characters, expanded music, new and improved gameplay, returning levels, a mysterious new realm, and up to four-player couch co-op.
It also includes new content and narrative twists, positioning the remake as more than a visual refresh for Ubisoft’s limbless hero.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches on PS5 on February 12, 2027.
Crystal Dynamics and co-developer Flying Wild Hog are returning Lara Croft to her roots, with the trailer showing locations such as Peru Lost Valley and the return of familiar faces.
Until Dawn 2
Until Dawn 2 is coming to PS5 in 2027 as a standalone sequel developed by Firesprite Games.
The sequel features a new cast and setting, this time following ghost hunters as they head to an abandoned tropical island for the debut episode of their TV network-funded show. Player choices and the butterfly effect will once again shape the story.
Bancho the Chef
Bancho the Chef is a standalone prequel to Dave the Diver, shifting the focus towards cooking, restaurant reputation, and global travel. The game blends cooking sim elements with RPG-style progression as Bancho learns techniques from culinary masters across different locations.
Beyond preparing meals, players can fish, care for cats, and take on cooking requests, suggesting a familiar mix of cosy systems and eccentric genre blending.
Dune: Awakening
Dune: Awakening is coming to PS5 on September 22. The open-world survival game is being billed as a definitive version for PlayStation players, bringing a new single-player mode, an additional chapter in its cinematic storyline, and various improvements as shown in the State of Play trailer.
Set on Arrakis, the game continues to lean into survival, scale, and the political danger of one of science fiction’s most recognisable worlds.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered
Koei Tecmo is bringing back a musou classic with Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, which launches on PS5 on October 1. The remaster includes both Dynasty Warriors 3 and Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends, reviving one of the franchise’s defining entries for modern platforms.
Marathon
Bungie’s Marathon entered Season 2 during State of Play, with the new season going live immediately.
An Open Play Week also runs from June 2 to June 9, with no PlayStation Plus membership required. The event opens the game up to newcomers looking to try its extraction shooter structure, high-stakes PvP, and PvE encounters.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls revealed three new characters: Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage. Together with Doctor Doom, they form the Knights of Doom, who will play a role in the game’s Episode Mode.
The update gives Arc System Works’ Marvel fighter a clearer villainous spine, while also adding several major comic book names to the roster.
ILL
First-person action horror game ILL appeared during the State of Play showcase with a new look at its grim atmosphere, unpredictable monsters, realistic physics, and visceral combat systems.
The trailer focused heavily on body horror and tension, positioning it as one of the more intense horror showings from the presentation.
Kemuri
Unseen, the Tokyo-based studio led by Ikumi Nakamura, unveiled Kemuri, a stylish supernatural adventure coming to PS5 in 2027.
Set in Kemuri City, where life and death coexist, the game lets players explore rooftops, alleys, and hidden ruins alone or in online co-op with up to two other players. Players will also form contacts with yokai to unlock abilities and outfits.
No Rest for the Wicked
Moon Studios’ action RPG No Rest for the Wicked is coming to PS5 this October.
The game is built for solo play and co-op squads, with Soulslike combat, a hand-crafted world, more than 100 hours of content, new weapons, bosses, enemies, areas, and a reimagined class system.
Silent Hill: Townfall
Silent Hill: Townfall launches on PS5 on September 24.
The new State of Play trailer introduced Zoe, a resident of St. Amelia who connects with Simon through his CRTV device, alongside a new creature that stalks him in the darkness of the Otherworld.
Stuntman: Hollywood
Stuntman: Hollywood revives the driving stunt fantasy, placing players in film-inspired sequences built around speed, pressure, and spectacle. Each film is split into episodes, with unique vehicles, objectives, and gameplay twists. The pitch is clear: stylish, precise driving across varied scenes, with each fictional production bringing a different rhythm and challenge.
The Lost Wild
Dinosaur survival horror game The Lost Wild launches on PS5 in 2027. As displayed at State of Play, the game focuses on survival through flight rather than direct combat, with dinosaurs designed as animals with their own instincts and behaviours rather than simple monsters. That places the player lower on the food chain, creating a different kind of survival-horror pressure.
PlayStation Plus Updates
PlayStation also confirmed several additions for PlayStation Plus during its State of Play showcase. RuneScape: Dragonwilds is coming to PS5 in the future as a day-one Game Catalog title.
PlayStation Plus Premium members will also receive Gitaroo Man later this month, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy in July, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in August.

PlayStation’s 2026 Line-Up Looks Busier After State of Play
The June State of Play did not rely on a single type of announcement. Instead, it spread its weight across several categories: first-party reveals, long-awaited sequels, remakes, horror, action RPGs, platformers, and service updates.
For the rest of 2026, the most immediate names include Marvel’s Wolverine, Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Rayman Legends Retold, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, and Dune: Awakening. For 2027, God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, Kemuri, The Lost Wild, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis all suggest PlayStation already has several major beats lined up beyond the current year.
There will also be more State of Play presentations to come, with Phantom Blade Zero as the clear example. All in all, if you are part of the PlayStation ecosystem, there’s plenty to get excited about for the rest of 2026 and beyond.
